The basic idea of the session is to make technology fun and useful to use in the classroom.  I will use the website to make quiz's and tests that the student to take and also have review games on there that the students can use to study.  It is a great and easy way for the students to take quiz's outside of class.  Some advantages is that it is a easy way to take a quiz or a test and also get a good review in.  With this website link you can put whatever you want on it and it is also very easy to access.  The disadvantage of it is that the speaker was talking about how students can pull out their phones to access the link.  But if you allow your students to pull out their phones for this they will be texting and use them in ways that will disrupt them in class.http://k12onlineconference.org/?p=1017

Using technology to help the teaching and learning process in your classroom

There are many ways to use technology to teach your students.  I think using a blog having have students comment on it is a great way to make the students interact in a conversation and they can learn many great things.  Using blogs very easy to use to so it wont be hard for the students to do it.  Also using a class wiki is also very good too.  You can put the homework for the day and class information so if the students ever have a question about something then can always go to that.  Also you can use a podcast to tell stories and with a podcast a student can listen to it over and over till they understand everything that is said.  The use of technology makes many things either and is also funnier to do than a boring lecture.  The student will like using technology and I believe they will benefit more from it too.

Ethics

Ethics is defined as a system of moral principles.  Teachers go by a ethics code that allows them to do somethings and things that they can't.  This is strictly forced and when teachers don't follow the rules they usually get fired.  There are just like that teachers need to do like give authors, web pages and pictures credit if they take them from a cite.  With having to be so worried about ethics I feel some teachers are scared to screw up or make a mistake that they won't take a chance on things.  This could hurt the students because they could be losing out on information.  But also with have a ethics code it allows you to make sure that you are not doing things that you are not suppose to and you will always give the author credit.

Pod casting

 Podcasting is online audio content that is delivered as an RSS feed.  Podcasting is making an audio recording and putting in on the Internet.   Podcasting can be used to tell story's by audio and can train students by telling them what to do from audio.  Some advantages of pod casting is that is provides learners the opportunity to review and re-review information an unlimited number of times.  Podcast can be used to reinforce activity concepts. There are also some disadvantages like you only want to use them with short lessons and lacks feedback. Learner is unable to ask questions or clarify information being presented.

Webquest

A web quest is an assignment which asks students to use the World Wide Web to learn about and/or synthesize their knowledge a specific topic.  I will use web quests mostly when I am planning a lesson or doing a activity.  It makes the activities more enjoyable for the students.  Some positives of using web quests are you search your information on the web so you can find facts very quickly and it allows you to work in groups and talk to each other about there findings.  But the cons of web quests are students just copy the information down from the Internet and rely way to much on it.  Also since they are coping down the information from the Internet some of the resources could be unreliable.

Virtual Tour

A virtual tour is a simulation of an existing location, usually composed of a sequence of video images. They also may use other multimedia elements such as sound effects, music, narration, and text.  The biggest way I will use a virtual tour in the classroom is having field trips.  With how money is and with not being able to go to other states for field trips, virtual tours is the perfect way to explore new boundries.  You can travel to museums, exotic islands, and even outer space.  Its a great learning tool for students.  Some of the advantages of using virtual tours include the fact that one can reach a very wide number of people. Unlike when people had to physically move from one place to another to view properties of interest, the use of virtual tour has made it very simple to reach a large number of people over a short spun of time. One of the major disadvantages of using virtual touring to reach out to property buyers is the fact that it could turn out to relatively expensive.

Teacher web pages

A teacher web page is a page that the teacher puts up to show students and parents what is going on in the classroom.  Teachers will put up things like class rules, lunch menu, homework assignments, upcoming field trips, and activities that are going on in the class.  I will use a teach web page to keep parents up to date on what we are doing in class.  Parents are very interested in what their son or daughter is doing in school.  Also I will use it to show what we did everyday so when a student is sick they can see what they missed on that day.  Teacher web pages are very useful but also have some cons to it.  Some positives of a teacher web page are parents get to see what is going on, students can see if they are going to pack or buy lunch on that day and they can see what they missed if they were sick on that day.  But some cons are that students will miss school because they will know what we did in class and can just do it at home.  Parents can question what we are doing in class because they do not agree with what I am teaching.

Use of Technology in Education

The use of technology has vasly increased since the years of when my parents and even when my older brothers and sisters went to school.  With the increase of technology in classrooms, it is making learning more hands on than ever. Smart Boards are one of the few new things that are in classrooms these days.  I really believe that they have a significant effect on how students learn.
